#CFF2019 Artists' Spotlight : GGB
Country Fan Fest is excited to welcome a great, successful group of artists to their our stages for our fifth summer festival. Our Utah fans are ready to rock.
Gunnar & The Grizzly Boys (GGB) have a name that rings true! A song that rang true, “Standard American”! And now they have an album of truly Good Rhythm.
GGB have fashioned a style that leader Gunnar Nyblad describes as, “Country music with a Michigan root.”
After years of honing its live show, GGB feels “These Are The Good Times” with the release of its second album, Good Rhythm. It follows the success of “Standard American”, which has over 40,000 downloads in the U.S. and Canada, and has over 1.1-million YouTube views and 1.3-million Spotify streams. Good Rhythm has been described as a diverse album.
There’s an explosive energy at live Grizzly Boy shows.
While attending Michigan State University for an agricultural degree, Gunnar introduced his childhood friend, bass player Rob Mason (Kent City, MI), to his college buddies, lead guitarist Shane Grehan (Alpena, MI); guitarist/keyboardist Chris Newberg (Rockford, MI); and drummer Joe Connolly (Rochester Hills, MI). Gunnar & Rob have been in bands together since they were 12 years old.
The group debut was opening for Justin Moore in 2009 to a sold out crowd at The Intersection in Grand Rapids. By 2013, GGB played the inaugural Live Nation Faster Horses festival in Brooklyn, MI, and by 2015 were on the main stage. They’ve also played major festivals around the country in Arizona, Colorado, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Kansas, Nevada, South Dakota and Florida. GGB are so excited to add Utah to that list of venues when they come to rock our stages at Country Fan Fest.
We welcome Gunnar & the Grizzly Boys to our stage on Thursday.
